CHS Student Highlight

Spotlight Student - Sophia Hight

Sophia is a sophomore student who hopes to join the military and pursue a career in aviation. Sophia participates in Civil Air Patrol (CAP), a cadet program associated with the National Guard base in Owasso. The group meets every Tuesday after school for three hours, where cadets develop leadership skills and learn about aviation and Civil Air Patrol.

She also works with younger children on Saturdays, helping them build and launch rockets. Way to go, Sophia!

Did you know?

Teachers, did you know your children may qualify for Oklahoma’s Promise under an increased income limit? To qualify, you must have been employed as a full-time, certified classroom teacher in an Oklahoma public school for a cumulative total of at least 10 years. The 10 years do not have to be in the same school district.

Reminders

Guardians of Students Attending In-School Suspension (ISS): Collinsville Public Schools utilizes EVERFI—an evidence-based curriculum—to optimize student time during ISS. This program offers lessons focused on character building, career exploration, alcohol education, healthy relationships, prescription safety, vape prevention, mental wellness, digital wellness, and financial literacy. If your student is assigned to ISS, they may participate in these modules.

No action is required if you consent. However, if you prefer that your child opt out of the EVERFI curriculum, please notify Mr. Boomer or Mr. Daniels via email at kboomer@collinsville.k12.ok.us or tonydaniels@collinsville.k12.ok.us prior to your student’s first day in ISS.
