State Testing Begins Next Week

State testing for Wilson 6th graders is coming up soon. ELA (English Language Arts) testing will take place April 21–22, followed by Math on April 28–29.

Families can help students feel confident and prepared with a few simple steps:

Encourage a good night’s sleep before testing days.

Make sure students eat a healthy breakfast.

Help them arrive at school on time and ready to go.

Offer encouragement and remind them to do their best.

Review practice questions and test-taking tips together.

Parent, Student, and Teacher Guides are also available and include helpful test-taking tips, objectives, and practice questions.

TSA Students Soar at State

Mrs. Myers and Mrs. Kent recently led a group of CMS/Wilson students to the State Leadership Conference, where they competed in 10 different events. Students who placed at the top earned recognition, awards, and the opportunity to advance to the National TSA Conference.

Students competed in CAD Foundations, Dragsters, Drone Challenge UAV, Flight, Mechanical Engineering, Problem Solving, Solar Racer, Robotics, Structural Engineering, and Photography, and brought home some big wins! The team earned 2nd place in Drone Challenge UAV and 1st place in Robotics.

Penny Drop Lab: Exploring Surface Tension

Recently, students in science class conducted the Penny Drop Lab by counting how many drops of plain water and soapy water could fit on a penny. They discovered that plain water holds more drops because cohesion allows water molecules to stick together, creating strong surface tension and forming a dome. When soap was added, it disrupted those bonds and weakened the surface tension, causing the water to spread out and resulting in fewer drops staying on the penny.
