Dear Cardinal Family,
It's with a heavy heart that I reach out to you today as our community and school system continues to grapple with the recent tragic accident that claimed the life of one of our high school students, injured a student at Wilson 6th Grade Center, and left others in critical condition. The tremendous outpouring of love and support from both within and outside our community for all those affected by this tragedy has been deeply moving. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered any form of support and kept these families in their prayers.
A memorial service will be held at the Collinsville High School Event Center on Thursday, August 29th, at 10 am to honor the life and legacy of CHS Junior Class student Gage Nunes. Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
There will be no classes for Collinsville High School on the day of the memorial service, allowing our students and staff the opportunity to attend. The high school will be providing further details to students and staff later in the week.
I also want to mention that GoFundMe accounts have been set up for both families. I have provided the links below in case you would like to contribute.
Please continue to keep the Lee and Nunes families, our students and staff, and all those affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeremy Hogan
Superintendent of Schools
