Drinking Water in the Winter

It is easier to remember to drink enough water in the summer because you are thirsty! But it is important to remember that you can also get dehydrated if you don’t drink enough water in the colder months as well. According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, a source provided by the CDC, it is suggested that you follow the 8x8 rule. Which is to drink eight 8oz glass. That is roughly 4 bottles of water a day.

When you get the adequate intake of water you are helping your body in numerous ways. You are helping regulate your bodies temperature. That would come in handy in the winter! It also helps cognitive function. Which is a fancy way of saying, “staying focused in class.” When you drink enough water is also prevents constipation and keeps your skin moisturized. There are many more benefits to drinking water you can read further from this link from the Mayo Clinic.

Changing Our Perspective:

Where we live we have access to clean water at our finger tips. There are places around the world that would love to have clean water. So, let’s be grateful and drink our water! (If you are in need food or water please know there are resources that can help. You can visit your local food pantry or ask the school for more resources.)

FUN FACT:

Did you know that your body is made up of roughly 60% water??
