Monthly Reading Challenge

book

Students and staff are welcome to participate every month in a monthly genre reading challenge! Each month, the genres will change but there will always be two different genres offered for the challenge.

September's genres are Fantasy and Myth!

Participants will read a book(s) corresponding to the monthly genres and, when finished, come to the library and fill out a slip of paper with their book cover, name, and 1-5 star rating! The book can be a library book or a book from home as long as it is school-appropriate. The slips of paper will be displayed on the challenge board in the library. There is no incentive or prize, only the fun of seeing how many books we can read as a school!

See Mrs. Hamby in the Library for more info!

School Based Prevention Services

This school year, Collinsville School District was awarded a grant through the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. A team, School Based Prevention Services MTSS Grant Team, has been put together and includes Sarah Ellington, Alec Huffman, and Christina Mitchell. The goal of this grant and this team is to help improve mental health and reduce substance use issues for all students in the district, Pre-K thru 12th grade. This will be achieved through related student curriculum, community and parent engagement, assessments and data collection, and connecting with community partners and resources. If you are looking for a way to help, the team is currently taking candy donations. If you would like to donate, candy can be dropped off at any school with a label that it is for the Grant Team. They will also be hosting a Supporting All Students Presentation for guardians and community members in October, more information will be released on this soon. If you believe a student can use this resource, contact any member of the team for assistance.

Stay Tuned...

Do the ramps at the high school meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act? That is the question that the students in Honors Algebra 2 are researching! They are measuring the various ramps at the high school and analyzing them for ADA compliance.
