Parents and guardians - Please take a few minutes to share your perspective on school climate, prevention needs and student mental health. This survey will help lead the work of our School Based Prevention Services Team, so your feedback is very important to us. Thank you for your time.
Students and staff are welcome to participate every month in a monthly genre reading challenge! Each month, the genres will change but there will always be two different genres offered for the challenge.
October's genres are Horror & Gothic Horror!
Participants will read a book(s) corresponding to the monthly genres and, when finished, come to the library and fill out a slip of paper with their book cover, name, and 1-5 star rating! The book can be a library book or a book from home as long as it is school-appropriate. The slips of paper will be displayed on the challenge board in the library. There is no incentive or prize, only the fun of seeing how many books we can read as a school!
See Mrs. Hamby in the Library for more info!
Even though learning a foreign language is no longer a requirement to graduate from high school in the state of Oklahoma, anyone who wants to compete and thrive in a world where boundaries and barriers are becoming less relevant should consider it! Profesora Haney and profesora Vogel are our amazing teachers of Spanish here at CHS and you should contemplate on giving Spanish a try. In addition to the language itself, multilingual learners can take advantage of the full scope of accompanying cognitive and social skills-making them great employees, leaders in their communities, and true global citizens. Aside from learning to communicate in another language students also get to experience cultural events such as the most recent field trip to enjoy music and dance with the Hispanic Flamenco Ballet.
Mrs. Haney and her Spanish 2 students had the amazing opportunity to attend the Hispanic Flamenco Ballet on Thursday, October 3rd. The dance company goes on tour every year, and this year, they had a show at the Kirkland Theatre in Broken Arrow. The students were able to experience Spanish and Latin dance culture through the art of flamenco. Their highly trained dancers and musicians were eager to share their passion and talent with the audience and allowed them to experience the beauty and power of Spanish culture. The performance culminated in an interactive finale, inviting students to participate in the joy of Latin dance. It was a great time had by all!
