Shelter-In-Place Protocols

Collinsville’s superintendent, Dr. Jeremy Hogan, sent an email to all parents and staff reiterating the safety protocols in light of recent tornado warnings. Drills are practiced multiple times throughout the school year to prepare students and staff in the case of a shelter-in-place situation, whether due to a safety concern or weather conditions. However, some protocols need to be followed in these circumstances that are in the best interest of student safety. Hogan would like to remind everyone of the following protocols that should be followed during these events:

  1. Please refrain from attempting to enter any school building or knocking on doors and windows. In the interest of ensuring a secure environment, all students and staff will take shelter. This is a lockdown situation, and we ask that everyone stay away from doors and windows.

  2. We will provide updates through the education service center using our established messaging platform. If you haven’t already signed up to receive these notifications, I encourage you to do so. Notification will be sent via text and through our school app, which you can download from our website (https://www.collinsville.k12.ok.us/). Additionally, please ensure your contact information is current in the parent portal.

Monthly Reading Challenge

book

Students and staff are welcome to participate every month in a monthly genre reading challenge! Each month, the genres will change but there will always be two different genres offered for the challenge.

November's genres are Biography & Political Fiction!

Participants will read a book(s) corresponding to the monthly genres and, when finished, come to the library and fill out a slip of paper with their book cover, name, and 1-5 star rating! The book can be a library book or a book from home as long as it is school-appropriate. The slips of paper will be displayed on the challenge board in the library. There is no incentive or prize, only the fun of seeing how many books we can read as a school!

See Mrs. Hamby in the Library for more info!
