Student Highlights

Last week, Boston Karriman competed in HOSA's "Physician's Assistant Medical Case Study" competition. His partner, Jayce Edwin Pesch (who goes to Broken Arrow High School) and Boston went against schools across the state with the hopes of winning the competition. The case study they got was on a teenager with undiagnosed Type 1 Diabetes leading to an acute case of Diabetic Ketoacidosis. Boston and Jayce presented what they found to a panel of judges and hoped their diagnosis, treatment plan, and presentation was good enough to get first. During the awards ceremony, they were called up for being in the top 5, and as they saw them go through the placements, they realized that they had placed first and would be going to Indianapolis over the summer to compete on an international scale. Way to go, Boston and Jayce!!
