Track Highlights from the Metro Lakes Conference Track Meet
It was an outstanding showing for our track and field program at the Conference Meet, highlighted by team championships from the Varsity Boys and 9th Grade Girls. Both teams delivered dominant performances, fueled by numerous first-place finishes and record-breaking efforts.
On the girls’ side, several athletes captured conference titles. Caydence Terrell took first in the 400m, while Makayla Garibaldi won the 3200m. Ava Lanik claimed the 100m hurdles title, and Taryn Vandiver followed with a win in the 300m hurdles. In field events, Jorja Savage earned first place in pole vault. The 9th-grade girls also showcased their depth and teamwork, earning gold in both the 4x400 relay (Vandiver, Prickett, Cousimano, Terrell) and the 4x800 relay (Terrell, Garibaldi, Fisher, Stacy).
The boys’ team matched that success with an equally impressive performance. Beau Daniels sprinted to victory in both the 9th-grade 100m and 200m, while Jordan Rangel dominated distance events, winning the 1600m and 3200m. Isaiah Carrasco secured a first-place finish in the long jump. The 9th-grade boys’ 4x200 relay team (Bruchal, Craig, Jones, Daniels) also brought home a conference championship. The boys’ 4x800m relay team also had a strong performance, finishing 2nd after coming off a record-breaking run at the Terry Due Classic with an impressive time of 8:12.21. Team members included Kellen Rhoton, Jordan Rangel, Weston Davis, and Connor Terrell.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the meet was the number of school records broken or tied—five in total. Addy Clark set a new long jump record with a leap of 17'3", and Jorja Savage broke the pole vault record with a jump of 10'6.24". The boys’ 4x100 relay team tied the school record at 42.83 seconds and went on to break the 4x200 relay record with a time of 1:29.42. Members of those relay teams included Scott Rigby, Karsyn Meeker, Max Whitekiller, Matteo Carrasco, and Braylen Ruff. Individually, Matteo Carrasco lowered his own 100m school record to 10.87, and Jordan Rangel did the same in the 3200m with an impressive time of 9:32.60.
We are incredibly proud of all our athletes for their hard work, dedication, and success. The team will be back in action at the Regional Track Meet in Jenks on Saturday, May 9th. We hope to see you there supporting our athletes as they continue their season.
